Did you know that to be considered a candy cane, it must have a hook? Otherwise it's just a peppermint stick. 90% of the population doesn't know that.

Looks like the naughty list is extra long this year!

But we have Andy Williams to blame for this. In his classic song "Happy Holiday" he sings "...so leave a peppermint stick, for old St. Nick, hanging on the Christmas tree!" But a peppermint stick would be unable to hang without the hook at the top. He really wants you to hang a candy cane, but that wouldn't rhyme.
