Those thumbs definitely faced no opposition.

When I was younger I was lead to believe that our opposable thumbs made us unique as humans. But I have since learned that many other animals have opposable thumbs - including some frogs! So what really sets us apart as a species is our ability to make cheese soufflé. Let's see an opossum master that.
