Every new idea you hear these days is really just an old idea with the words "blockchain" or "machine learning" thrown in. Maybe both.

However, CEO frog seems to be conflating blockchain and Bitcoin. They aren't the same thing. Bitcoin uses blockchain, but I like to describe blockchain as a database distributed among parties with mutual distrust. So depending on the number of parties involved, it can get slow. And the whole energy use thing - current estimates are that the Bitcoin network is using as much energy as the entire nation of Ireland.
